**Ironwood Sails is a Bali-departure concierge desk for private, full-boat phinisi charters out of Benoa and Serangan harbours. We plan and quote your sunset, celebration, wedding or multi-day buyout; the actual voyage is operated by Bali Premium Trip, whose reservations team handles every booking directly. We are the desk, not the boat owner.**
That single distinction shapes everything on this site. Ironwood Sails does not own a fleet, sell cabins, or pretend to be a shipowner. We are a specialist booking desk focused on one thing: matching you to the right traditional phinisi schooner leaving from Bali’s southern harbours, then routing your reservation to the operator who runs it.
Who is behind Ironwood Sails?
The publisher of this website is Juara Holding Group. The charters we arrange are operated by Bali Premium Trip, and the reservations team there confirms availability, holds dates, issues quotes and manages your booking from first message to disembarkation.
Where a vessel or service is not owned by the operator, it is arranged via vetted licensed partners — local yacht agents, licensed captains and crew, and marine-service providers. We say this plainly because it matters for your money and your expectations: you are booking a coordinated charter, not renting a boat from us.
On the editorial side, this site is maintained by one named editor rather than an anonymous content mill. Rangga Wibisono leads the desk’s writing. He has spent years around Bali’s charter and harbour scene and writes here about three things specifically: Bali’s departure harbours (Benoa as the official Port of Entry, Serangan as the practical small-vessel base roughly 1 km north), phinisi heritage (the two-masted, fore-and-aft-rigged wooden vessel that traces back to the Bugis and Makassar shipwrights of South Sulawesi, traditionally built with ironwood hulls and teak decking — the reason this desk is called Ironwood Sails), and charter logistics (routing to Nusa Penida day-sails, Lombok and the Gili Islands overnights, and Bali-to-Komodo repositioning voyages).
What Rangga and this desk are NOT: we are not a licensed financial, legal or tax adviser. Any content touching yacht ownership, temporary-import permits or investment is informational context only, never advice, and never a promise of returns or outcomes.
What exactly does the desk arrange?
We handle Bali-origin, full-boat charters — priced as a flat rate for the whole vessel, not per person. Here is the current menu we quote against, with indicative pricing.
| Charter type | Typical duration | Departure | Indicative price (as of 2026, subject to change) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sunset dinner charter | 3–4 hours | Benoa / Serangan | Firm quote from reservations team |
| Full-day cruise (Nusa Penida) | 8–10 hours | Benoa | From IDR 18,000,000 for a full-boat day cruise (one Bali operator’s public rate; approx. USD 1,100–1,200 at recent typical FX — an informed estimate, not an official quote) |
| Proposal / wedding / celebration | Half or full day | Benoa / Serangan | Firm quote — depends on guest count, styling, catering |
| Corporate event / buyout | Full day | Benoa / Serangan | Firm quote — depends on capacity and service level |
| Nusa Penida–Lombok overnight | 2 days+ | Benoa | Indicative range — firm quote required |
| Bali → Komodo repositioning | Multi-day | Benoa | Indicative range — firm quote required |
The IDR 18,000,000 figure above is currently the only directly citable Bali phinisi day-cruise price point publicly advertised, and we quote it honestly as one operator’s published starting rate. Every other line requires a firm quote from the reservations team, because full-boat pricing moves with vessel, date, guest count and season.
One more honesty note on cost: unless your quote confirms otherwise, treat fuel, port and mooring fees, marine or national-park fees (Nusa Penida and Komodo both charge these), alcohol, and land transfers as potentially billed separately. A Nusa Penida day-sail typically threads Crystal Bay, Gamat Bay, Manta Point and Toyapakeh, and those park fees are real line items worth confirming before you commit.
How does booking through the desk work?
The path from enquiry to sailing is deliberately short. Here is the sequence.
- Tell us the shape of the day. Message the desk with your date, headcount, departure preference (Benoa or Serangan), and the occasion — sunset, proposal, wedding, corporate, or a multi-day route.
- We check the operator. Ironwood Sails routes your request to Bali Premium Trip’s reservations team to confirm a suitable phinisi is available on your date.
- You get a firm, itemised quote. The reservations team returns a flat full-boat rate and states clearly what is included and what — fuel, park fees, catering, transfers — is not.
- You hold the date. Once you accept, the operator’s team secures your vessel and crew and confirms the itinerary.
- You sail. Your named charter departs from Benoa or Serangan, run by the operator’s licensed captain and crew.
Because the operator handles reservations directly, there is no layer of guesswork between your question and a real answer about availability and price.
Why depart from Bali at all?
Benoa sits on the eastern side of Bali’s southern tip and is the island’s official Port of Entry for visiting yachts — customs, immigration and quarantine clear there. After formalities, yachts are advised to move about 1 km north to Serangan Harbour, which offers two anchorage areas, good shelter, and a practical base for smaller vessels. Bali Marina at Benoa is a managed yacht facility, and yacht-industry media report Benoa Marina is being developed as a major base for Indonesian yacht charters. In short: Bali is a legitimate, serviced departure point, not just a transit stop on the way to Komodo.
For readers weighing a foreign-flagged yacht rather than a chartered phinisi, general cruising references note that Indonesia requires visiting yachts to carry passports valid at least 180 days beyond the stay, a CAIT security clearance, and a tourist visa; since 3 December 2011 the temporary-import regime uses a PIB filed at the first port of call with a guarantee letter from a licensed Indonesian company, which is why a local agent is typically needed. We share this as context, not legal guidance — verify current rules with a licensed agent.
Our honesty standard
To be explicit about what you will and will not find here: we never fabricate reviews, ratings, awards, credentials or social profiles for Ironwood Sails or the operator. All prices and exchange-rate conversions are marked “as of 2026, subject to change.” Seasonality claims are framed as general guidance because month-by-month Bali–Nusa Penida–Lombok–Komodo sea-state data is not in our citable sources; Indonesian phinisi cruises are broadly marketed year-round. And no page on this site promises guaranteed returns or outcomes.
